a day at malibu farm

hello there and happy weekend!

grant and i love saturdays. most weekends, its a day we can take to actually give ourselves a little bit back of what's been drained out through the week. i have to admit that we're the "fill our schedules to the brim" kind of people, so saturday becomes a savory day of sleeping in, brewing coffee, making lazy breakfast and then heading off on some adventure (or lounging - whichever of the two we need more).

on this particular saturday a few weeks back, we decided to head up to malibu with our friends justin and taylor to do some exploring. malibu in the spring time is never a bad idea, and a day spent hanging by the ocean always seems to bring some needed refreshment to life's busier weeks. i'd also heard of this little place called malibu farm and was dying to pay the place a visit. so after roaming around a few oak groves and walking the beach, we went.

you guys - its the cutest AND the food is phenom. whether you're looking for a lovely brunch, lunch, or dinner spot (with a fabulous view and great aesthetic) this place fits the ticket. the patio hosts plush couches with charming string lights (perfect for a cocktail or glass of wine with friends) and in the main dining room you'll find wood tables and edison bulbs hung from white boat ropes from the ceiling - very beach appropriate.

for food, we shared club sandwiches, kale salads, and a cauliflower crust pizza. we threw in a few craft brews and house made lemonade and talked about jobs and marriage and how california weather is the best weather. it was a treat from start to finish - so my advice to you, dear friends, is to grab some good company and take a drive up the coast to catch a bit of malibu ocean air and enjoy some bomb food at this new favorite spot. i'll certainly be dreaming about as the rest of this weekend closes out and the busy race to next weekend begins.

by the way, my friend tay is the one who snapped all these pretty pics (photographer wizard that she is). you can follow along with her @taylornsouza when you're itching for a bit more visual inspiration to get you through your day :)

SO what about you? any amazing spots I should be trying in the LA area? let me know in the comments below - can't wait to try!
